Some like it Ruff.
As of yet, the year 2010 has produced folk/indie bands a’plenty. They’re the ones who ‘got it going on’ and are found, well, nearly everywhere? So, when a crew like Ruff as Stone pitch up, with a growl and swagger reminiscent of 80s sex, drugs and the good stuff – your head turns. When such a band is headed by the charismatic and excessive Austin Howard, your head turns a little bit more. His vocals are raw and polished simultaneously, the tunes as in your face as a cream pie at a party, and the live show an apparent ‘must see’.
This kind of sparkling metal rock hasn’t been around for a while – Bombay Bicycles and Mumford’s sons look like wee puppy dogs standing next to Wolfmother’s offspring. It’s glam, it’s old school and they’re sure to make helluva noise at AAA come Friday night.
Check out their Fives Alive.
