DISCOVERY ROCKS feat. RABA + PORTLIGHTS + LINDA HARRISON
Raba recently played The Garage and selling out their first headline Show at Bush hall, London. They continue to gig hard heading out across the UK. The band have a tight and explosive rhythmic section along with delicate harmonies and expressive guitar work which provide the perfect setting for Scott’s vocals. Scott is a storyteller with a strong sense of melody. The band was formed in 2011 with school friend connections Nick, Jamie and Martin. Definitely a band to keep an eye out for in 2013.
“One of my favourite songs that also shows Scott’s great ability of lyric writing is called But We Look The Same. If you like slow and heartbreaking songs like me, then For Real is just the one. Simply stunning.” – Blog, Musicgetsmeby
Originating from the North Wales countryside, Portlights produce masterful alternative indie anthems, and are known for their love of big guitar sounds and bigger drums. These three good friends combine vocals reminiscent of Bowie and Black Francis of Pixies fame; with the soulful instrumentation of early Radiohead and uplifting choruses taken from influences such as Arcade Fire, The Joy Formidable and Two Door Cinema Club.
“This band use some of the most incredible guitar sounds known to mankind” – North Wales News
Harrison is 20; she has just released her first physical single, “Overexposure”, 1 million YouTube hits, a fashion line and an album recorded when she was 16 to her name, and collaborations and connections from Frankmusik to Perez Hilton. But this seemingly glitzy start is the result of fierce independence and self-belief. She has refused management and publishing deals to pour her own savings into doing things the way she thinks is right. Her upbeat pop songs are rooted in emotional hardship and solid experience gained from Edinburgh to LA’s slums. Vulnerable but with a steely stubbornness, she is a pop star who has paid dues the latest X Factor puppets don’t know exist.
“LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Linda Harrison” – Alex Baker (Kerrang! radio)
“The most talented lady I have ever met…This is what I have been waiting for!” – Frankmusik (UK producer/artist)
“Fiona Apple meets Kate Bush….Gonna be a smash!” – Perez Hilton (celebrity blogger)
